I've tried again and again, the Dropbox initially created my Apps/MyWorkTime folder when I linked the app, but not backups or exports ever actually make it. Every time I try either, it asks me, again, to link dropbox, opens my dropbox, and just never transfers anything.

Backup to itunes and other exports work well.

I did have the free version, but installed the full after a purchase (because the "free" version never changed from the "lite" after upgrading through the links in the lite app.)

App Version 1.5.1
Device model Ipad
Device Version Ipad 2 (wifi)
System name iPhone 0S
System version 5.1.1
Country US

Hi Mugo,

The only issue that I was aware of with the dropbox functionality in myWorkTime resulted in some users not even being able to authorize their dropbox account. For the users that have been able to authorize their accounts, everything has worked fine. The myWorkTime app invokes functionality on dropbox to create the directory, and write the files, so if it creates the directory it should have no problem writing the file.

I am currently working on version 2.0 which is a complete rewrite of the app, including improved export / backup / restore functionality, so that should resolve your issue.

Thanks

Jez

I have a similar problem. I used the in-app upgrade from the Lite version, which said the upgrade was successful and the project limites were removed, but the app still said Lite and the dropbox backup didn't work - I didn't get asked to give my dropbox account details. The export to csv did work though, so I deleted the app and downloaded it again. The paid version asked me to pay, and the Lite version still said it had been upgraded. The reinstallation didn't fix the dropbox backup, and I then discovered that although I can export to csv I can't re-import that data, so I lost my data.

I am having the same problem. I did the in-app upgrade, and it worked fine. However, I still had to pay for the non-Lite version of the software. And even when I manually put the CSV file in the appropriate dropbox folder, it isn't recognized. SO, I have all of my data on CSV, but I cant see any way to actually get it from there into the app. I am on iPad app version 1.5.1.

Ah, I see that when you can actually export to dropbox, it's in a different file format; .mwt. Is it possible to convert the csv file to .mwt? Or is there any other way to import the CSV? Please dont tell me that I need to recreate 20 clients, 80 projects and God-knows-how-many tasks.

The In-App-Purchase to upgrade the app only removes the limitations so that you have the same functionality as the full paid version. The app name doesn't change. This is how In-App-Purchase works.

There is a known issue with the Dropbox support which has now been fixed in version 1.5.2 (currently waiting for review by Apple).

The paid version of myWorkTime and the lite version are two completely separate apps, even though they have exactly the same functionality. If you have downloaded the lite version and upgraded (unlocked the full functionality) there is no need to buy the paid version of the app.

The export functionality creates a CSV file of the selected tasks. It is not a backup. The backup functionality will create a backup of the entire database so that the data can be restored at a later date.

Why did you have to pay for the non-lite version of the app? They both have exactly the same functionality?

No, export will produce a CSV file, regardless of whether it is stored locally or on Dropbox. The backup functionality will product the .mwt file. The CSV file is just an export of the selected tasks so that you can manipulate any of the time and billing information in a spreadsheet application (Excel, Numbers, etc). The .mwt file is a complete backup of the entire database which can be used to restore the app data.

There is not enough information in the CSV file to recreate the app data.

Thanks for your response, Jez. I'm afraid I am going to have to start over, but I appreciate your responsiveness.
